What's in Wichita?

I'll be in Wichita Kansas this coming weekend, October 9&10th. This will be a great time of learning. If you are interested in becoming a demonstrator, let me assure you that Stampin' Up does it's best to keep us energized and encouraged with great training.

Here's the basic information on what regional seminars have to offer:
What are Regional Seminars?
Where can you enjoy inspiring messages, creative stamping presentations, and fresh ideas from close to home? At our regional seminars!

At our regionals, thousands of demonstrators from across the United States and Canada enjoy stamping, swapping, and creative demonstrations by top-notch presenters. This year we will continue both half-day and full-day regional seminars. We've been looking for a cost-effective way to provide live training to our demonstrators in less-populated areas. Our half-day regionals allow us to go places we have never gone before! We can offer shows in smaller cities at a reasonable price, because we can rent smaller venues and conduct the seminars with fewer staff. With a seminar closer to your home, you can travel to and from the event in one day and save on hotel and fuel expenses--plus the half-day seminar fee is less! These half-day shows will provide a portion of the same great training that happens at the full-day regional seminar. Here is what you can expect at each show:

Each half-day training seminar includes
Informative creative stamping presentations.
Thee stamping projects.
Berry Christmas stamp set from the Holiday 2009 Mini Catalog.
An opportunity to swap with other demonstrators.
Door prizes.
100 total attendees per event.
An intimate setting with two presenters from the home office.

The Gift of Cards

Here was my last minute idea for a baby shower gift for a friend. Ink, Stamp, Pastels, Blender Pens, Ribbon and Paper and Voila!

I stamped with my cute Love Bug (115233) stamps and used my Blender pens and pastels to create this adorable bug.

I used the cute baby lady bug for the envelope. My favorite part are the blueberry wheels! Add a bit of ribbon to the edge. I did this 8 times and made the cutest set of cards!

The completed set.

Hand-Made Card

I needed a card for work, so I figured I would make one with my new goodies from Stampin' Up. I cut out a piece of card stock from the Earth Elements color family. I used my Eastern Blooms flower stamps.

In this picture you can see that I used the Whisper white cardstock to create embellishments and colored them with my Stampin' Pastels. I cut out the the flowers and added them to my card with dimensional foam adhesive squares.

I used the Whisper White cardstock so that that I can write on the inside of my card with ease.

I wanted to add something special to the back, so after I finish writing my personal message I will sign my name on the back of the card.

Here's one more picture of my finished card.

Corner Bookmark Project

Start with a 5 inch square.

Fold in half lengthwise.

Fold in half again to make two equal fold lines.

Cut one fourth away.

Fold into the middle piece like shown in diagram.

You should have something similar to this.

Then I used my Classic Ink in Basic Black for my embellishment.

I inserted a larger piece of cardstock into my bookmark and used my scalloped scissors to cut the edge.

This is example B.

Example A.

This is the bookmark in action. So much fun and less than 5 minutes to make!

Ronald McDonald and Stampin' Up!

The Ronald McDonald house is near and dear to my family's heart. They helped us right after my son was born with the complications in 2002. The time was wrought with fear and anxiety, but the last thing on our mind was where we would lay our head at night. I have always felt as though I owe so much to this organization and look forward to the opportunity to give back as often as I can. My day job hosts "jeans weeks" where if we pay a 5 dollar donation, we can wear jeans all week and the money goes to a designated charity. We often raise thousands of dollars for the RMHC. So when I opened my starter kit and saw this card I was speechless. Just another validation of what a great company Stampin' Up is.

Stampin' Up! supports RMHC in four important ways:
  • We make an annual contribution of $100,000.
  • We donate a portion of the sales from a designated stamp set in each Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog.
  • Hand-stamped items collected at our Stampin'Up! events are donated to local Ronald McDonald House Programs.
  • We facilitate the efforts of local temas of demonstrators who volunteer at Houses.

Please ask me how you can be involved in helping this great charity and how it helps so many families every day!

A Great New Endeavor!

I am waiting patiently for my Starter Kit to arrive and can't wait to show you all the new things I've learned. If you have been in paper crafts for years or you have a closet full of photos and don't know where to start, I will be able to help.
Workshops: I will host monthly workshops so that you can learn new techniques and do hands-on projects to practice your new skills. You will have an opportunity to meet new friends and set aside some much needed time for yourself.
Parties: If you are more comfortable in a home setting, I will come to your home and you can invite your closest buddies. You can host a party and win loads of goodies to add to your scrapping collection.
Clubs: If you just can't get enough scrapping time, we can even start our own club where we meet once a month and I will demonstrate techniques and help with your projects.
Please email me at: janinedeckard@gmail.com for more information!
Keep checking for more exciting details!
